ZTE Router Login

192.168.1.1

ZTE is one of the largest telecommunications equipment manufacturers in the world, supplying routers and ONT devices to ISPs across Asia, Europe, Africa, and Latin America. Most ZTE routers use 192.168.1.1 as the default gateway with admin/admin as factory credentials. ZTE devices are rarely purchased at retail. Instead, ISPs bundle them as customer premises equipment (CPE) with broadband subscriptions. This means default credentials and firmware features often vary by ISP.

How to Login to Your ZTE Router

ZTE routers use 192.168.1.1 as the default IP address. Open a browser on any device connected to the ZTE router’s network and type 192.168.1.1 in the address bar. ZTE does not use a branded URL alias like some other brands, so the IP address is the only way to access the admin panel.

The login page displays fields for username and password. Enter admin for both. On ISP-provided ZTE devices, these credentials may differ. Check the sticker on the bottom or back of the device. Many ISPs print a unique password on the label for each unit they deploy.

After logging in, the admin panel shows device information, connection status, and connected client counts. The interface varies between ISP firmware versions.

ZTE ISP devices often have two access levels: a user account for basic settings (Wi-Fi, devices) and a superadmin account for advanced options (VLANs, TR-069, bridge mode). ISPs rarely share superadmin credentials with customers.

Setting Up a ZTE Router

Most ZTE routers arrive pre-configured by your ISP. If you need to set up the device yourself, follow these steps.

Connect the fiber cable to the PON port (for ONT models) or phone line to the DSL port. Plug in the power adapter and wait 2-3 minutes. The PON or DSL LED should turn solid green.

Step 1: Connect a computer to the ZTE device via Ethernet or the default Wi-Fi network. The default SSID and password are printed on the device label.

Step 2: Open a browser and go to 192.168.1.1. Log in with the credentials on the device label.

Step 3: If the internet does not work automatically, go to Network > WAN > WAN Connection. Check the connection type. ISP-provisioned devices usually have this pre-configured via TR-069 remote management. If manual configuration is needed, select the appropriate type (DHCP, PPPoE, or Static IP) and enter the credentials from your ISP.

Step 4: The Wi-Fi network should already be active with the credentials printed on the label. To customize the network name and password, proceed to the Wi-Fi settings section.

Changing Your ZTE Wi-Fi Password

Log into the admin panel at 192.168.1.1. Go to WLAN > WLAN SSID Configuration or Wi-Fi Settings depending on your firmware version. The menu names vary between ISP firmware builds.

Select the network (2.4 GHz or 5 GHz) and locate the WPA passphrase field. Enter a new password of at least 8 characters. Select WPA2-PSK as the authentication mode. Click Apply or Submit.

The Wi-Fi radio restarts briefly. Reconnect all devices with the new password. For step-by-step instructions, see the change Wi-Fi password guide.

On some ISP firmware, the password field may be labeled Pre-Shared Key, WPA Key, or Security Key. Look under any menu containing “WLAN” or “Wireless.”

ZTE ONT and ISP Integration Features

ZTE ONT (Optical Network Terminal) devices like the F670L and F680 serve as the bridge between your ISP’s fiber network and your home network. These devices combine a fiber modem, router, Wi-Fi access point, and sometimes a phone adapter into a single unit.

TR-069 remote management. ISPs use TR-069 to remotely configure, update, and diagnose ZTE devices without sending a technician. These settings are locked in the user-level admin account.

VLAN tagging. ISPs use VLAN tags to separate internet, IPTV, and VoIP traffic on the same fiber connection. ZTE ONTs handle this separation internally. Changing VLAN settings incorrectly can break your services.

Using your own router behind a ZTE ONT. Connect your router’s WAN port to a LAN port on the ZTE device and disable Wi-Fi on the ZTE. For the cleanest setup, ask your ISP to enable bridge mode so your own router handles routing and NAT.

Troubleshooting ZTE Router Login

  1. Cannot reach 192.168.1.1. Verify you are connected to the ZTE device’s network. If you have your own router connected behind the ZTE, you might be on your router’s subnet instead. Connect directly to the ZTE device via Ethernet or its Wi-Fi network. Check the device label for the correct IP, as some ISP firmware uses 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.100.1.

  2. Admin password rejected. The ISP may have changed the default credentials. Check the device label for a printed password. Contact your ISP for the correct login details. As a last resort, perform a factory reset by holding the reset button for 15 seconds. Note that ISP-provisioned settings may need to be re-applied after a reset.

  3. Settings are grayed out or locked. You are logged in with a user-level account. ISP firmware restricts advanced settings. Contact your ISP to request changes, or search for superadmin credentials specific to your ISP and ZTE model. Modifying ISP-managed settings may affect your service.

  4. PON light is red or blinking. A red or blinking PON LED indicates the fiber connection to your ISP is down. Check that the fiber cable is securely connected to the PON port. Inspect the cable for bends or damage. If the cable looks fine, the issue is likely on the ISP side. Contact your ISP to check the optical line terminal at their end.

ZTE Router FAQ

What is the default IP address for ZTE routers?

Most ZTE routers and ONT devices use 192.168.1.1 as the default gateway. Some ISP-customized firmware may use 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.100.1 instead. Check the label on the bottom of your device for the specific IP address configured by your ISP.

What is the default ZTE router password?

The factory default is admin/admin for both username and password on most ZTE models. ISP-provided units frequently have custom credentials set by the provider. Common ISP-specific passwords include the serial number, a printed password on the device label, or the ISP's standard default password. Check your ISP documentation if admin/admin does not work.

Why does my ZTE router have ISP-restricted settings?

ISPs that provide ZTE routers as CPE typically lock down certain features in the firmware. Bridge mode, TR-069 management, VLAN tagging, and superadmin access are commonly restricted. This prevents customers from making changes that could disrupt the ISP's network. Some users access superadmin mode using ISP-specific credentials found online, though this may violate your service terms.

How do I reset a ZTE router to factory settings?

Press and hold the reset button on the back of the device for 10-15 seconds until the LEDs flash. Release and wait 2-3 minutes for the router to reboot fully. Factory reset restores the default admin/admin credentials but may also restore ISP-specific configurations. On ISP-provided units, the ISP may need to re-provision the device after a reset.

Can I use a ZTE router as just a modem in bridge mode?

Some ZTE ONT devices support bridge mode, which passes the internet connection directly to your own router. This disables NAT and DHCP on the ZTE device. Go to Network > WAN > WAN Connection and change the mode from Route to Bridge. However, many ISPs disable this option in the firmware. Contact your ISP to request bridge mode activation if the option is grayed out.

Which ZTE router models are most common?

The F670L (GPON ONT, WiFi 6), F680 (GPON ONT, WiFi 5), F660 (older GPON ONT), MF283V (4G LTE CPE), MF927U (4G mobile hotspot), and MC888 (5G CPE) are the most widely deployed models. The F670L and F680 are the standard fiber broadband ONTs for many ISPs in Asia.
