DrayTek Router Login

DrayTek Corporation, headquartered in Hsinchu, Taiwan, develops networking equipment aimed at business and enterprise environments. The Vigor series of routers has earned a strong reputation among IT managed service providers for reliability, VPN capabilities, and centralized management through VigorACS. While DrayTek products are not typically found in home networking retail stores, they are widely deployed in professional settings.

How to Login to Your DrayTek Router

DrayTek Vigor routers use 192.168.1.1 as the default IP address. Open a browser on any device connected to the DrayTek network and type that address in the address bar. The admin panel loads over HTTPS on most current firmware versions.

The login page displays username and password fields. Enter admin for both. On first login, DrayTek firmware requires you to change the default password immediately. This forced password change is a security measure that protects the router from unauthorized access using known default credentials.

After logging in, the dashboard shows the WAN connection status, active VPN tunnels, system resources, and recent syslog entries. The DrayTek interface is more detailed than consumer routers, reflecting its business-oriented design.

Setting Up a DrayTek Router

Connect the WAN 1 port to your modem or ISP handoff with an Ethernet cable. For DSL models like the Vigor 2865, connect the phone line to the DSL port instead. Plug in the power adapter and wait for the ACT LED to blink steadily.

Step 1: Connect a computer to a LAN port on the DrayTek router via Ethernet cable. Wireless setup is possible but Ethernet is recommended for initial configuration.

Step 2: Open a browser and go to 192.168.1.1. Log in with admin/admin and set a new admin password when prompted.

Step 3: The Quick Start Wizard guides you through WAN configuration. Select the internet connection type (DHCP, PPPoE, or Static IP) and enter the details from your ISP. For dual-WAN models like the Vigor 2927, configure WAN 2 if you have a secondary internet connection.

Step 4: Configure the wireless settings if your model has built-in Wi-Fi. Set the SSID and password for both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands. Enterprise deployments often disable the built-in Wi-Fi and use separate VigorAP access points instead.

Step 5: Review and apply the settings. The router saves the configuration and establishes the WAN connection.

Changing Your DrayTek Wi-Fi Password

Log into the admin panel at 192.168.1.1. Go to Wireless LAN > Security in the left sidebar.

Select the SSID you want to modify. Change the Pre-Shared Key field to your new password. Select WPA2/WPA3 as the security mode. Click OK to apply.

DrayTek VPN Server and Multi-WAN Features

DrayTek Vigor routers include enterprise-grade networking features that set them apart from consumer hardware.

Built-in VPN server. Every Vigor router includes a VPN server supporting multiple protocols: IPSec, L2TP over IPSec, PPTP, SSL VPN, and OpenVPN on newer models. Remote workers connect securely to the office network without third-party VPN software on the router side. The Vigor 2927 supports up to 50 simultaneous VPN tunnels. Multi-WAN load balancing and failover. Models like the Vigor 2927 (dual-WAN) and Vigor 3912 (up to 12 WAN ports) support automatic failover between connections. If one ISP goes down, traffic shifts to the backup link. Policy-based routing directs specific traffic through specific WAN links.

VigorACS central management. Managed service providers use VigorACS to configure and update hundreds of DrayTek devices from a single dashboard using TR-069 protocol.

Firewall and content filtering. The Vigor firewall supports stateful packet inspection, access control lists, and URL content filtering.

Troubleshooting DrayTek Router Login

1. Cannot reach 192.168.1.1. Verify your computer is connected to a LAN port on the DrayTek router and has an IP address in the 192.168.1.x range. If you are behind a managed network with a different subnet, connect directly to the router with an Ethernet cable. DrayTek routers respond on 192.168.1.1 by default even if DHCP is not configured.

2. Admin password rejected after first setup. DrayTek forces a password change on first login. If you do not remember the new password, perform a factory reset by holding the reset button for 15 seconds. This restores admin/admin but erases all configurations including VPN tunnels and firewall rules.

3. WAN connection shows down despite active ISP. Check the WAN LED on the front panel. Go to Online Status in the admin panel to view WAN link details. Verify the connection type matches your ISP requirements. For PPPoE, confirm the username and password are entered correctly. For dual-WAN setups, check that the correct WAN port is connected.

4. VPN tunnel fails to establish. Verify both endpoints use matching parameters (encryption, authentication, pre-shared key). Check the syslog under Diagnostics > Syslog Explorer for error messages. Enable NAT traversal if either side is behind another NAT device.

5. VigorAP access point not appearing in management. Ensure the VigorAP has an IP address on the same subnet. The default is 192.168.1.2. Assign unique static IPs to each AP. Check that AP Management is enabled under Central Management > AP.
