Netgear

my.jetpack is the branded login URL for Netgear Nighthawk mobile hotspot devices. When you type this address into a browser while connected to the hotspot’s Wi-Fi network, the device’s DNS resolver maps it to the default IP address 192.168.1.1. The .jetpack suffix is a non-standard domain used exclusively by Netgear mobile routers. The Nighthawk M1, M2, M5, M6, and MR series are portable 4G LTE and 5G hotspot devices that create a personal Wi-Fi network from a cellular SIM card connection. Each device ships with a unique admin password shown on the built-in LCD screen or printed inside the battery compartment.

How to Access my.jetpack

To reach my.jetpack, power on your Netgear Nighthawk mobile hotspot and wait for it to connect to the cellular network. The LCD screen on the device displays the current Wi-Fi network name and password. Connect your computer or phone to that Wi-Fi network.

Open a web browser and type my.jetpack in the address bar. The login page loads with a password prompt. The default username is admin. The default password is unique to each device and is shown on the LCD screen under the Wi-Fi info section, or printed on a label inside the battery compartment. Enter these credentials to access the admin panel.

The dashboard displays real-time data usage, signal strength, battery status, and connected devices. Navigation menus provide access to Wi-Fi settings, cellular band locking, Wi-Fi password changes, firmware updates, and SIM card management.

The NETGEAR Mobile app on iOS and Android is a convenient alternative. It provides most of the same controls through a mobile-friendly interface and connects to the hotspot over the local network.

When my.jetpack Does Not Work

my.jetpack relies on the hotspot device handling DNS queries from connected clients. Five common issues can prevent access.

  1. You are not connected to the hotspot’s Wi-Fi network. The URL only resolves when your device is on the Nighthawk’s own network. If you are connected to your home router, a public Wi-Fi network, or using mobile data directly, my.jetpack will not load. Switch to the hotspot’s Wi-Fi.

  2. Custom DNS settings on your device override local resolution. If you use Google (8.8.8.8), Cloudflare (1.1.1.1), or another public DNS, those servers cannot resolve the .jetpack domain. Change your DNS settings to automatic (DHCP).

  3. The hotspot has not finished booting. After powering on, the device needs 20 to 30 seconds to initialize its Wi-Fi network and web server. Wait for the LCD screen to display the network information before trying to connect.

  4. The browser is forcing HTTPS. Nighthawk hotspots serve their admin panel over HTTP. Some browsers with strict security settings will try to use HTTPS, which fails. Type http://my.jetpack explicitly in the address bar.

  5. The device battery is nearly depleted. When battery level drops very low, the hotspot may disable the admin panel or Wi-Fi to conserve power. Connect the device to a USB charger and try again after a few minutes.

If the URL does not resolve, type the IP address 192.168.1.1 directly in the browser.

my.jetpack vs the IP Address

my.jetpack and 192.168.1.1 both reach the same admin panel. The resolution mechanism is the only difference between them.

my.jetpack uses the hotspot’s built-in DNS resolver. Your device sends a DNS query, the hotspot intercepts it, and replies with its own LAN address. The IP address method skips DNS and connects directly to 192.168.1.1.

The .jetpack suffix is non-standard and will not resolve on any public DNS server. This makes it less reliable than the IP address in situations where DNS settings have been modified. However, the branded URL is easier to remember and type, especially for users who are not familiar with numeric IP addresses.

On some carrier-branded versions of Nighthawk hotspots (sold through AT&T, T-Mobile, or Verizon), the login URL or default IP address may differ from the standard Netgear defaults. Check the device’s WAN and LAN settings screen or the label in the battery compartment for the correct address.

Default Credentials for Netgear Nighthawk Hotspots

After accessing my.jetpack, each Netgear Nighthawk mobile hotspot ships with a unique default admin password. This password is displayed on the device’s LCD screen and is also printed on a label inside the battery compartment. The default username is admin on all models.

The Wi-Fi password is separate from the admin password. Both are shown on the device screen and label. After your first login, change both passwords.

If you forget the admin password, reset the device by pressing and holding the reset button (small pinhole near the charging port) for 10 seconds. The hotspot restarts with factory settings, restoring the original passwords from the label.
