VNPT Router Login

192.168.1.1

Vietnam Huawei, ZTE, Fiberhome

VNPT is Vietnam's largest fibre broadband provider. Most VNPT routers use 192.168.1.1 as the default gateway. This guide covers login steps, default passwords, and configuration for VNPT-supplied routers.

Vietnam Posts and Telecommunications Group (VNPT) is Vietnam’s largest fibre broadband provider and a state-owned enterprise. The provider operates the FiberVNN brand, delivering fibre-to-the-home internet across all 63 provinces. VNPT deploys Huawei, ZTE, and Fiberhome ONT hardware to subscribers. Most routers from the service use 192.168.1.1 as the default gateway IP address, and connections typically require PPPoE authentication.

How to Login to Your VNPT Router

To access the VNPT router admin panel, connect to your network through Wi-Fi or a LAN cable. Open a browser and type the IP address 192.168.1.1 in the address bar. The login page will appear after a few seconds.

Enter admin as the username and admin as the password. Technicians sometimes set a custom password during installation. Check the sticker on the bottom of the device if the default does not work.

The provider offers customer support at 18001166 for technical assistance. Full router configuration including wireless settings, port forwarding, and PPPoE management requires the web admin panel at 192.168.1.1.

If the login page does not load, verify you are connected to the VNPT network and not mobile data. Type http://192.168.1.1 with the prefix. A LAN cable connection is more reliable than Wi-Fi for admin access.

VNPT Router Models and Default Settings

The service has deployed several ONT models across Vietnam. The unit depends on your province, plan tier, and installation date.

The Huawei HG8145V5 and ZTE F609 are the two most common units. Both function as combined ONT and router devices with dual-band Wi-Fi. Fiberhome units appear more frequently in southern provinces. All models share the 192.168.1.1 default gateway.

Changing Your VNPT Wi-Fi Password

FiberVNN subscribers should change the default Wi-Fi password after installation. The default credentials are widely known in Vietnam. Here is the process for the Huawei HG8145V5.

Log in at 192.168.1.1 with your admin credentials. Click on WLAN in the top menu. The 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz networks will appear under SSID Configuration.

Select the SSID to modify. Change the SSID Name from the default (often VNPT followed by characters) to your preferred name. In the WPA PreSharedKey field, type your new password. Use at least 12 characters with a mix of letters, numbers, and symbols.

Click Apply. All connected devices will disconnect and need to rejoin. Repeat for both frequency bands.

For the ZTE F609, go to Network then WLAN then Security. Change the WPA Passphrase field and click Submit.

For step-by-step instructions across brands, see our Wi-Fi password change guide.

Using Your Own Router with VNPT

The service supports third-party routers, but the PPPoE requirement adds an extra step compared to DHCP-based ISPs.

Steps to connect your own router:

  1. Obtain your PPPoE username and password from your installation paperwork or by calling 18001166.
  2. Log in to the ONT at 192.168.1.1 and disable the built-in Wi-Fi to reduce interference.
  3. Connect your router’s WAN port to the ONT’s LAN port 1 using an Ethernet cable.
  4. Set your router’s WAN connection type to PPPoE and enter your credentials.
  5. If your router also defaults to the 192.168.1.x subnet, change its LAN IP address to a different range (such as 192.168.0.x) to avoid conflicts.

Alternatively, keep the ONT handling PPPoE and set your router’s WAN to DHCP. This creates a double NAT but avoids needing PPPoE credentials on your personal router.

Popular routers among Vietnamese broadband users include the TP-Link Archer AX73 and Xiaomi AX3200. Mesh systems help cover the narrow, multi-story houses common in Vietnamese cities.

Troubleshooting VNPT Router Issues

Here are the most common router problems and how to fix them.

  1. Login page does not load. Confirm you are on the VNPT network, not mobile data. Type http://192.168.1.1 with the prefix. Use a LAN cable instead of Wi-Fi. Reset the router if the page does not appear after several attempts.

  2. Password rejected. Technicians frequently set custom passwords. Check the router label. A factory reset (hold the reset button for 10 to 15 seconds) restores defaults. After reset, re-enter your PPPoE credentials to restore internet access.

  3. Connected but no internet. Verify PPPoE credentials are correctly entered in the WAN settings. Power cycle the ONT for 30 seconds. If PPPoE authentication fails, contact 18001166 to confirm your credentials are active.

  4. Slow Wi-Fi speeds. Test with a wired connection first. The service delivers full speed over Ethernet. If Wi-Fi is the bottleneck, use the 5 GHz band for nearby devices. Multi-story Vietnamese houses benefit from a router on each floor or a mesh system.

  5. Red LOS light on the ONT. A red LOS light indicates fibre signal loss. Check the fibre cable from the wall outlet to the device for bends or damage. Do not bend fibre cables sharply. Contact 18001166 if the cable appears intact.
