ViewQwest Router Login
192.168.1.1
ViewQwest is a premium fibre ISP in Malaysia targeting gamers and power users with low-latency international routing. Most subscribers use their own routers since the provider does not bundle one by default. This guide covers login, setup, and configuration for ViewQwest fibre connections.
ViewQwest is a premium fibre broadband provider operated by ViewQwest Sdn Bhd, a subsidiary of ViewQwest Pte Ltd based in Singapore. The service targets gamers and power users who need low-latency international routing. Plans go up to 2Gbps, with optimized paths to game servers in Singapore, Japan, and the United States. Coverage spans Kuala Lumpur, Petaling Jaya, and Penang.
How to Login to Your ViewQwest Router
ViewQwest does not supply a default router on most residential plans. Subscribers bring their own equipment, so the login IP address depends on the router brand you use. Common defaults are 192.168.1.1 for Asus, TP-Link, and Ubiquiti routers, or 192.168.0.1 for D-Link and Netgear models.
For managed plans that include MikroTik equipment, the default IP address is 192.168.88.1. Open a browser, type the address, and enter admin with no password (MikroTik default). Ubiquiti UniFi gateways use 192.168.1.1 with credentials set during initial adoption.
Connect to the router’s Wi-Fi network or plug a cable into one of the LAN ports before attempting to access the admin panel. The page will not load if your device is on mobile data or a different network.
ViewQwest Router Models
The provider does not have a standard router lineup since most subscribers use their own devices. Managed plan equipment includes the following models.
| Device Model | Default IP | Username | Password | Typical Use |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| MikroTik hAP ac3 | 192.168.88.1 | admin | (blank) | Managed residential |
| MikroTik hEX S | 192.168.88.1 | admin | (blank) | Managed, router only |
| Ubiquiti USG | 192.168.1.1 | Set at setup | Set at setup | Premium managed |
| Ubiquiti Dream Machine | 192.168.1.1 | Set at setup | Set at setup | Premium managed |
MikroTik devices run RouterOS with advanced controls for QoS, firewall rules, and traffic shaping. Ubiquiti UniFi gateways integrate with the UniFi Controller software for centralized management. Any router with a gigabit WAN port and DHCP support will work with the service.
Changing Your ViewQwest Wi-Fi Password
Since most subscribers use their own routers, the password change process depends on your specific device. The general steps apply to all brands.
Log in to your router’s admin panel at its default IP address. Go to the Wi-Fi or Wireless settings section. Locate the SSID (network name) and password fields. Update both the 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands if your router broadcasts them separately. Save the changes.
On MikroTik devices from managed plans, open WebFig at 192.168.88.1 and go to Wireless > Security Profiles. Change the WPA2 Pre-Shared Key and click OK.
Use WPA2 or WPA3 encryption with a password of at least 12 characters. For a complete walkthrough, see the Wi-Fi password change guide.
Using Your Own Router with ViewQwest
The service uses DHCP for IP assignment, which makes own-router setup simple. No PPPoE credentials, no VLAN tagging, and no calls to support are needed. This is one of the easiest ISPs in Malaysia for bringing your own equipment, similar to TIME and easier than TM Unifi.
- Connect your router’s WAN port to LAN port 1 on the ONT (the small box where the fibre cable terminates).
- Set your router’s WAN connection type to DHCP (Dynamic IP or Automatic).
- Power on the ONT first and wait 2 minutes for the optical link to stabilize.
- Power on your router and wait another 1 to 2 minutes.
- Your router should receive a public IP address and connect to the internet automatically.
For the 2Gbps plan, you will need a router with a 2.5GbE WAN port, as a standard gigabit port caps throughput at approximately 940Mbps. If the connection does not come up, power cycle the ONT by unplugging it for 30 seconds. Some ONTs lock to the MAC address of the first device connected, and a reboot clears this lock.
Troubleshooting ViewQwest Connection Issues
-
Cannot access router admin page. Verify you are connected to your router’s network via Wi-Fi or a LAN cable. Check your router brand’s default IP address: Asus and TP-Link use 192.168.1.1, MikroTik uses 192.168.88.1. If you changed the default previously, reset the router to restore factory settings.
-
No internet after connecting router to ONT. Power cycle the ONT for 30 seconds. Confirm the ethernet cable runs from the ONT’s LAN port to your router’s WAN port, not LAN to LAN. Check that DHCP is selected as the WAN type.
-
High ping to game servers. The provider’s low-latency routing applies automatically. If ping is unexpectedly high, run a traceroute to the game server to verify the traffic path. Contact support if the route passes through congested nodes outside the optimized path. Peak hour congestion (8 PM to 11 PM) can still affect international hops.
-
Speeds below plan rate on wired connection. Test with a direct LAN cable from the ONT to a laptop to rule out router issues. Check that your ethernet cable is Cat 5e or better. On the 2Gbps plan, verify your network adapter and router support 2.5GbE.
-
ONT lights showing red or blinking. A red LOS (Loss of Signal) light means the fibre line is broken or disconnected. Check the fibre cable from the wall to the ONT for visible damage or tight bends. Do not bend fibre cables at sharp angles. If the cable looks intact, contact support at 1300-88-8811.
