Viettel Router Login

Viettel Group, under the Ministry of National Defence, is Vietnam’s largest mobile operator and second-largest fibre broadband provider. The provider markets its home internet under the Viettel Home brand, offering fibre plans across all provinces. Viettel deploys Huawei and ZTE ONT hardware to residential subscribers. Most routers from the service use 192.168.1.1 as the default gateway IP address, and connections require PPPoE authentication.

How to Login to Your Viettel Router

To access the Viettel router admin panel, connect to your network through Wi-Fi or a LAN cable. Open a browser and type the IP address 192.168.1.1 in the address bar. The login page will load within a few seconds.

Enter admin as the username and admin as the password. Technicians sometimes set a custom password during installation. Check the sticker on the bottom of the device if the default does not work.

The provider offers customer support at 18008098. Full router configuration including wireless settings, port forwarding, and PPPoE management requires the web admin panel at 192.168.1.1.

If the login page does not appear, confirm you are connected to the Viettel network and not mobile data. Type http://192.168.1.1 with the prefix. A LAN cable provides a more reliable connection for admin access than Wi-Fi.

Viettel Router Models and Default Settings

The service has deployed several ONT models across Vietnam. The unit depends on your province, plan tier, and installation date.

The Huawei HG8145V5 is the most widely deployed unit. It functions as a combined ONT and router with dual-band Wi-Fi. The ZTE F670L with WiFi 6 support has appeared on newer installations. Both models are shared with VNPT and other Vietnamese ISPs.

Changing Your Viettel Wi-Fi Password

Viettel Home subscribers should change the default Wi-Fi password after installation. The default credentials are widely known. Here is the process for the Huawei HG8145V5, the most common router from the provider.

Log in at 192.168.1.1 with your admin credentials. Click on WLAN in the top menu. The 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz networks will appear under SSID Configuration.

Select the SSID to modify. Change the SSID Name from the default to a name you prefer. In the WPA PreSharedKey field, type your new password. Use at least 12 characters combining letters, numbers, and symbols.

Click Apply. All connected devices will disconnect and need to rejoin. Repeat for both frequency bands to maintain consistent security.

For the ZTE F670L, go to Network then WLAN then Security. Update the WPA Passphrase field and click Submit.

Using Your Own Router with Viettel

The service supports third-party routers. Since the provider uses PPPoE, you will need your authentication credentials when setting up your own equipment.

Steps to connect your own router:

1. Obtain your PPPoE username and password from your installation paperwork or by calling 18008098.
2. Log in to the ONT at 192.168.1.1 and disable the built-in Wi-Fi to reduce interference.
3. Connect your router’s WAN port to the ONT’s LAN port 1 using an Ethernet cable.
4. Set your router’s WAN connection type to PPPoE and enter your credentials.
5. If your router defaults to the 192.168.1.x subnet, change its LAN IP address to a different range (such as 192.168.0.x) to avoid conflicts.

As an alternative, leave PPPoE on the ONT and set your router’s WAN to DHCP. This avoids needing credentials on your router but creates a double NAT setup.

Popular routers in Vietnam include the TP-Link Archer AX73 and Xiaomi AX3200. Multi-story tube houses benefit from a mesh system or one router per floor.

Troubleshooting Viettel Router Issues

Here are the most common router problems and how to fix them.

1. Login page does not load. Verify you are on the Viettel network, not mobile data. Type http://192.168.1.1 with the prefix. Use a LAN cable instead of Wi-Fi. Reset the router if the page does not appear.

2. Password rejected. Technicians often set custom admin passwords. Check the router label. A factory reset (hold the reset button for 10 to 15 seconds) restores defaults. Re-enter PPPoE credentials afterward to restore internet access.

3. Connected but no internet. Verify PPPoE credentials are correctly entered in the WAN settings. Power cycle the ONT for 30 seconds. If PPPoE authentication continues to fail, contact 18008098 to confirm your account is active.

4. Slow Wi-Fi speeds. Test with a wired connection first. The service delivers full speed over Ethernet. If Wi-Fi is the bottleneck, use the 5 GHz band for nearby devices. The narrow multi-story houses common in Vietnam need a mesh system or additional access points for full coverage.

5. Red LOS light on the ONT. A red LOS light means fibre signal loss. Check the fibre cable from the wall outlet to the device for sharp bends or damage. Do not bend fibre cables. Contact 18008098 if the cable looks undamaged.
