U Mobile Router Login
192.168.8.1
U Mobile offers home fibre (GX50, GX68 plans) and 4G/5G wireless broadband across Malaysia. Most U Mobile CPE devices use 192.168.8.1 as the default gateway. This guide covers router login, Wi-Fi setup, and signal optimization for all U Mobile broadband devices.
How to Login to Your U Mobile Router
U Mobile Sdn Bhd provides two types of broadband: home fibre (GX50, GX68) and 4G/5G wireless. The router and login process differ between them.
For 4G/5G CPE devices (Huawei or ZTE): Connect to the U Mobile Wi-Fi or plug a cable into one of the LAN ports. Open a browser and go to 192.168.8.1. Log in with admin and the password on your device label.
For home fibre routers: Connect and go to 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1 depending on the router model. U Mobile supplies different brands for fibre plans, so check the label for the exact IP address. Default credentials are typically admin / admin.
If neither IP address works, open a command prompt and type ipconfig (Windows) or check your network settings (Mac/phone) for the gateway address.
U Mobile Router Models and Default Settings
| Device Model | Service Type | Default IP | Username | Password |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Huawei B535-232 | 4G LTE | 192.168.8.1 | admin | See label |
| Huawei B628-350 | 4G LTE-A | 192.168.8.1 | admin | See label |
| Huawei H122-373 | 5G | 192.168.8.1 | admin | See label |
| ZTE MC801A | 5G | 192.168.1.1 | admin | admin |
| ZTE F670L | Fibre (GX50/GX68) | 192.168.0.1 | admin | admin |
| TP-Link (various) | Fibre (GX50/GX68) | 192.168.0.1 | admin | admin |
U Mobile’s GX50 and GX68 fibre plans run on resold TM Unifi or wholesale fibre infrastructure. The experience is similar to Unifi, but U Mobile handles billing and customer service. The router they supply may differ from what TM gives directly.
For 4G/5G, U Mobile uses the same Huawei and ZTE CPE devices as other Malaysian telcos. The Huawei B535 is the workhorse 4G model, while the H122-373 and ZTE MC801A handle 5G.
Changing Your U Mobile Wi-Fi Password
U Mobile subscribers can update Wi-Fi credentials from the router admin panel. Steps differ by device type.
On Huawei CPE devices:
Log in at 192.168.8.1. The main dashboard has a Wi-Fi Settings shortcut. Change the Wi-Fi Name and Wi-Fi Password. Click Save. All connected devices will need to reconnect.
By default, Huawei CPE devices combine 2.4GHz and 5GHz into a single SSID with smart band steering. Most users should leave it this way. If you want separate SSIDs, go to Advanced > WLAN Settings and disable band steering.
On ZTE or TP-Link fibre routers:
Log in at 192.168.0.1. Go to Wireless or WLAN Settings. Change the SSID and password for both 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands separately. Click Apply or Save.
Set WPA2-PSK or WPA3 for security. Use at least 12 characters for your password. See our Wi-Fi password guide for detailed steps.
Optimizing U Mobile 4G/5G Performance
U Mobile 4G/5G wireless plan performance depends on signal quality above all else. Here’s how to get the most out of your CPE device.
Placement: Put the CPE on a shelf or table near the window closest to the cell tower. Higher floors get better signal. Avoid placing it inside a TV cabinet, behind a monitor, or near metal objects. Even moving the device 30cm can make a noticeable difference.
Check your signal: Log in to the admin page and look for signal metrics. On Huawei devices, check Device Information or Network Information. You want:
- RSRP above -85 dBm (strong), -85 to -100 (moderate), below -100 (weak)
- SINR above 10 dB (clean signal), below 5 (noisy, expect packet loss)
External antennas: Huawei B535, B628, and H122 have external antenna connectors (TS-9 type). A RM60-100 outdoor panel antenna from Shopee or Lazada can improve weak signals dramatically. Mount it outside a window, point it at the nearest tower. Use CellMapper or OpenSignal to locate towers.
Band selection: Advanced users can lock to specific bands. U Mobile uses Band 3 (1800MHz), Band 7 (2600MHz), and Band 40 (2300MHz) for 4G. For 5G, they use n41 (2500MHz) and n78 (3500MHz). Band locking is useful when the device keeps jumping between bands and causing instability.
Troubleshooting U Mobile Broadband Issues
Here are the most common U Mobile router problems and how to fix them.
-
Login page does not load. Try 192.168.8.1 for Huawei, 192.168.0.1 for ZTE fibre, 192.168.1.1 for ZTE 5G. Check the IP address on the device label. Make sure you are connected to the U Mobile network, not mobile data. If none work, factory reset the device and try again with default credentials.
-
No internet on fibre. Check the ONT (small box connected to the fibre cable). If the PON light is steady green, the fibre is working, and the issue is your router or account. If PON is off or red, there is a fibre line problem. Contact U Mobile at 018-388-1318.
-
No internet on 4G/5G. Make sure the SIM is inserted correctly. Restart the CPE. Check if your data plan is active and not exhausted. The admin page shows remaining data if your plan has a cap.
-
Fibre speeds lower than plan. The GX50 and GX68 plans run on shared infrastructure. Run a speed test with a wired connection through the LAN port to get accurate numbers. If wired speeds are consistently below 80% of your plan, contact U Mobile support.
-
4G/5G dropping or unstable. This often means the CPE is switching between towers or bands. Try moving the device to a different window. If the problem persists, consider band locking to the strongest single band rather than letting the device auto-select.
U Mobile Router FAQ
What is the default IP for U Mobile router?
Most U Mobile CPE devices use 192.168.8.1 as the default gateway, especially Huawei models. Some ZTE devices may use 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1. Check the label on your device for the correct IP.
What is the default password for U Mobile router?
The default username is admin. The password is either admin or a unique key printed on the device label. Huawei CPE devices often use the Wi-Fi password on the label as the admin password.
Does U Mobile offer home fibre?
Yes. U Mobile offers home fibre under plans like GX50 and GX68. These use fibre infrastructure from TM or other wholesale providers. U Mobile supplies a router (typically a ZTE or TP-Link unit) for fibre plans.
How do I improve U Mobile 4G/5G speed at home?
Place the CPE near a window on the highest floor. Check signal strength in the admin panel at 192.168.8.1 and aim for RSRP above -90 dBm. External antennas can help on Huawei CPE devices with antenna ports. Avoid peak hours (8-11PM) for the best speeds.
How do I reset my U Mobile router?
Find the reset pinhole on the back or bottom of the device. Press and hold with a paperclip for 10-15 seconds while powered on. The device restarts with factory default settings including the original IP, username, and password.
