Telkomsel Orbit Router Login

Telkomsel Orbit is a fixed wireless home broadband service that delivers internet access over 4G LTE and 5G networks. The service is operated by PT Telekomunikasi Selular (Telkomsel), a subsidiary of Telkom Indonesia and the largest mobile operator in the country. Orbit targets households in areas where fibre infrastructure from providers like IndiHome has not yet reached, using portable CPE (Customer Premises Equipment) devices with SIM card connectivity.

How to Login to Your Telkomsel Orbit Router

To access the Orbit router admin panel, connect to the device’s Wi-Fi network. The default SSID is usually printed on the device label along with the Wi-Fi password. Open a browser and type the IP address 192.168.8.1 in the address bar.

The login page will load. Enter admin as both the username and password. On some Huawei B Series models, the password is printed on a sticker on the bottom of the device rather than the generic default.

The Orbit mobile app for Android and iOS handles basic tasks like checking data usage. For advanced settings such as port forwarding, DNS configuration, or band locking, the web admin panel at 192.168.8.1 is necessary.

If the login page does not appear, make sure you are connected to the Orbit Wi-Fi and not mobile data. Type http://192.168.8.1 with the full prefix.

Router Models and Default Settings

The provider ships different CPE models depending on the plan tier and availability. All current models are manufactured by Huawei or ZTE. Below are the 5 devices in active circulation.

The Huawei B312-926 is the entry-level device bundled with most starter plans. It supports 4G LTE Cat 4 with speeds up to 150 Mbps download. The B535-932 handles Cat 7 LTE with carrier aggregation for faster throughput. Note that the ZTE MF286R uses 192.168.0.1 as its default IP address, not 192.168.8.1.

Changing Your Wi-Fi Password

New subscribers should change the Wi-Fi password from the default printed on the device. The steps below cover the Huawei B312, the most widely distributed model.

Log in at 192.168.8.1 with your credentials. Click Wi-Fi Settings or WLAN in the side menu. You will see the current SSID (network name) and security settings.

Change the SSID to a name you prefer. In the Wi-Fi Key or WPA PreSharedKey field, type your new password. Use at least 12 characters. Avoid using your phone number or address.

Click Save or Apply. All connected devices will disconnect. Rejoin the network with the new password.

Using Your Own Router

The CPE device handles the mobile data connection through its built-in SIM slot. You can connect a separate Wi-Fi router behind it for better coverage or features.

Plug your own router’s WAN port into one of the CPE’s LAN ports using an Ethernet cable. Set your router’s WAN connection type to DHCP (automatic). The CPE assigns an IP address to your router automatically.

Disable Wi-Fi on the CPE to avoid interference. On the Huawei B312, log in at 192.168.8.1, go to Wi-Fi Settings, and toggle Wi-Fi off.

Make sure both devices use different IP address ranges to avoid conflicts. If the CPE uses 192.168.8.x, set your personal router to 192.168.1.x or another range.

Troubleshooting Router Issues

1. Login page does not load. Verify you are connected to the CPE Wi-Fi, not mobile data. Type http://192.168.8.1 in the browser. Try a different browser or clear cache. If the device is a ZTE model, try 192.168.0.1 instead. A factory reset of the router restores the default gateway.

2. No internet connection. Check that the SIM card is properly inserted and the data plan is active. The signal indicator should show at least 2 bars. Move the CPE near a window for better reception. Power cycle by unplugging for 30 seconds.

3. Slow speeds. Performance depends on 4G signal strength and tower congestion. Lock the device to a specific band (B3 1800 MHz or B40 2300 MHz) through the admin panel under Network Settings. Test at different times to identify peak congestion hours.

4. Device shows “No SIM” error. Remove and reinsert the SIM card. Clean the SIM contacts gently. Ensure you are using a Telkomsel SIM with an active data plan. Standard prepaid SIMs without a home broadband plan will not work in the CPE.

5. Wi-Fi drops frequently. Update firmware through the admin panel under System or Update. Reduce the distance between your devices and the CPE. Switch to 2.4 GHz for better wall penetration in concrete Indonesian homes.
