The Pocket WiFi models use 192.168.8.1 instead of 192.168.1.1. This is the standard Huawei mobile hotspot address. All fixed home WiFi devices use 192.168.1.1.

Older Smart Bro devices running on 3G have been phased out as Smart shut down its 3G network. If you have an older device, check with Smart for a replacement unit.

Changing Your Smart Bro WiFi Password

The default WiFi password on Smart Bro routers is printed on the device label. It is often a short numeric string that is easy to guess. Change it after setup.

Log in at 192.168.1.1. Go to WiFi Settings or WLAN in the menu. The exact location depends on the router model.

On Huawei models, look for WLAN Basic Settings. Find the WPA Pre-Shared Key field. Delete the current password and type your new one. Use at least 12 characters with a mix of letters, numbers, and symbols.

On ZTE models, go to WiFi and then WiFi Security Settings. Change the Passphrase field.

Click Apply or Save. All connected devices will disconnect and need to reconnect using the new password. Our WiFi password change guide has step-by-step instructions for more router brands.

Prepaid vs Postpaid Plans

Smart Bro offers both prepaid and postpaid home WiFi options. The hardware is the same, but billing and data management differ.

Prepaid. Buy a Smart Bro Home WiFi device from any Smart store. Load credits through the SmartBro app, GCash, or retail load. Register to a data promo by texting a keyword to 9999. Popular promos include GIGA99 (2 GB for 7 days) and GIGA299 (8 GB for 30 days). When data runs out, the connection stops until you register again.

Postpaid. Apply through a Smart store or the Smart website. Plans include a monthly data allocation and a locked router. Postpaid offers higher data caps and unli data on select tiers.

Prepaid is more popular because it requires no credit check, no monthly commitment, and no installation appointment.

Troubleshooting Smart Bro Issues

  1. Admin page does not load at 192.168.1.1. Make sure you are on the Smart Bro WiFi network, not mobile data. Try http://192.168.1.1 with the prefix. If you have a Pocket WiFi model, the admin page is at 192.168.8.1 instead. Reset the router if nothing works.

  2. Wrong password on login page. Smart Bro fixed WiFi devices default to admin/admin. If someone changed the password, hold the reset button on the device for 15 seconds. This restores factory defaults including the original admin credentials and WiFi password.

  3. No internet connection after loading. Check your data balance through the SmartBro app or by dialing *123#. Prepaid users need an active data promo. If you have data remaining, restart the router by unplugging it for 30 seconds. Move the device closer to a window for better LTE signal.

  4. Slow internet speeds. Smart Bro speeds depend on 4G/5G signal strength. Place the router near a window on an upper floor. Avoid thick walls and metal surfaces. If speeds remain slow, the cell tower may be congested during peak hours.

  5. Cannot connect to WiFi network. Verify the SSID is broadcasting by logging in at 192.168.1.1 and checking WiFi is enabled. If the router recently reset, the SSID reverts to the default on the label.
