Singapore Nokia, Huawei, Arcadyan

Singapore Telecommunications (Singtel) is Singapore's largest ISP. Most Singtel routers use 192.168.1.254 as the default gateway. This guide covers login steps, default passwords, and configuration for Singtel-supplied routers including the Singtel WiFi Gigabit Router AC Plus and Nokia ONTs.

How to Login to Your Singtel Router

Singtel, a subsidiary of Singapore Telecommunications Limited, is the largest broadband provider in Singapore. To log in to your Singtel router, connect to the network through Wi-Fi or a LAN cable plugged into one of the router’s LAN ports. Open a browser and type the IP address 192.168.1.254 in the address bar.

Enter admin as the username. For the password, check the sticker on the bottom of your router. Singtel sets a unique password per device rather than a universal default.

If 192.168.1.254 does not load, try 192.168.1.1 as some older Singtel routers use that IP address instead. Make sure you are on the Singtel network.

Singtel also offers the My Singtel app for basic network management. For full control over port forwarding and DHCP settings, the web admin panel at 192.168.1.254 is required.

Singtel Router Models and Default Settings

Singtel has supplied different ONT and router combinations over the years. The model you have depends on your plan and installation date.

The Nokia G-240W-F handles most residential plans up to 1 Gbps. The Huawei HG8145V5 appears on newer installations and shares the same chassis used by ISPs across Asia. Singtel’s parent company also offers WiFi 6 mesh add-ons for larger homes.

Changing Your Singtel Wi-Fi Password

Singtel subscribers should change their Wi-Fi password from the router admin panel for security. The steps below use the Nokia G-240W-F as the example since it is the most widely deployed model.

Log in at 192.168.1.254 using the credentials from your router label. Click on Network in the top menu, then select WLAN or Wireless. You will see entries for both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands.

Click on the SSID you want to modify. Change the SSID Name to your preferred network name. In the WPA PreSharedKey field, enter a new password at least 12 characters long.

Click Apply. Connected devices will drop off and need to rejoin. Update both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands for consistency.

Using Your Own Router with Singtel Fibre

Singtel Fibre makes it straightforward to use your own router. The ONT handles the fibre-to-Ethernet conversion, and the router sits behind it.

Steps to connect your own router:

  1. Disconnect the Singtel-supplied router from the ONT.
  2. Plug your own router’s WAN port into the ONT’s LAN port 1.
  3. Set the WAN connection type to DHCP (automatic IP).
  4. Restart the ONT by unplugging it for 30 seconds.
  5. Power on your router. It should obtain an IP address automatically.

Singtel residential fibre plans use DHCP, so there is no PPPoE username or password to enter. No VLAN tagging is required for internet access on standard plans.

If you subscribe to Singtel TV, you may need to configure IPTV passthrough. Check your router manual for IGMP proxy settings. Popular routers for Singtel users include the Asus RT-AX86U and TP-Link Archer AX73.

Troubleshooting Singtel Router Issues

Here are the most common Singtel router problems and how to fix them.

  1. Login page does not load. Verify you are on the Singtel network, not mobile data. Type http://192.168.1.254 with the prefix. If that fails, try 192.168.1.1. Connect via LAN cable to rule out Wi-Fi issues. If neither IP works, reset the router.

  2. Password rejected. Singtel technicians occasionally change the password during installation. Try the router serial number or “singtel” in lowercase. A factory reset restores the label password.

  3. Connected but no internet. Power cycle the ONT first, wait two minutes, then the router. Check for a solid green light on the ONT. If the light is red or off, the fibre line has a fault. Report through the My Singtel app or call 1688.

  4. Slow Wi-Fi speeds. Test with a LAN cable first. Singtel Fibre delivers full speed over wired connections. If Wi-Fi is the bottleneck, switch to 5 GHz for nearby devices. For larger HDB flats, Singtel’s WiFi Mesh add-on helps.

  5. Red LOS light on ONT. A red LOS light means the fibre line is down. Check the fibre cable from the wall point to the ONT for bends. Do not bend fibre cables. If intact, report through the My Singtel app or call 1688.

  6. Wi-Fi drops in some rooms. Ensure the router has proper ventilation and is not stacked under other devices. Reposition the router centrally. Consider Singtel’s WiFi Mesh add-on for multi-room coverage in larger HDB flats.

Singtel Router FAQ

What is the default IP address for Singtel router?
