Jio Router Login
192.168.29.1
Reliance Jio provides broadband through its JioFiber service. Jio routers use 192.168.29.1 as the default gateway, which is different from the standard 192.168.1.1 used by most ISPs. This guide covers login steps, default passwords, and configuration for Jio-supplied routers.
How to Login to Your Jio Fiber Router
Reliance Jio, a subsidiary of Reliance Industries Limited, provides broadband through its JioFiber service across India. To access the Jio router admin panel, connect to your JioFiber network via Wi-Fi or a LAN cable. Open a browser and type the IP address 192.168.29.1 in the address bar.
This IP address is non-standard. Most ISPs use 192.168.1.1 as the default gateway, but Jio chose the 192.168.29.x subnet to minimize IP address conflicts when customers connect their own networking equipment behind the Jio device.
The login page will appear. Enter admin as the username and Jiocentrum as the password. Note the capital J. Some newer Jio Home Gateway models use a unique password printed on the device label, so check the sticker if Jiocentrum does not work.
Jio provides the MyJio app for network management including password changes and speed tests. For full admin control over port forwarding and DHCP configuration, the web panel at 192.168.29.1 is necessary.
Jio Router Models and Default Settings
JioFiber uses a limited set of router models, keeping the hardware relatively consistent across its subscriber base.
| Router Model | Default IP | Username | Password | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Jio Home Gateway (JMR815) | 192.168.29.1 | admin | Jiocentrum | Most common model |
| Jio Home Gateway (JMR1140) | 192.168.29.1 | admin | Jiocentrum or on label | Updated version |
| Nokia G-240W-A | 192.168.29.1 | admin | On router label | Select areas |
| Jio WiFi 6 Gateway | 192.168.29.1 | admin | On router label | Premium plans (2024+) |
The Jio Home Gateway is a combined ONT and router with JioTV integration through its HDMI output. Reliance Jio’s parent company, Reliance Industries, designed these devices in-house. The built-in Wi-Fi covers most 1BHK and 2BHK flats, but larger homes need mesh systems.
The Nokia G-240W-A appears in areas where Jio uses shared fiber infrastructure.
Changing Your JioFiber Wi-Fi Password
JioFiber subscribers should change the default password since Jiocentrum is publicly known. Here is the process for the Jio Home Gateway.
Log in at 192.168.29.1 with your credentials. Go to Wi-Fi Settings or Wireless in the menu. You will see your 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz networks.
Select the network to modify. Change the Network Name (SSID) from the default to your preferred name. Update the Password field. Use at least 12 characters. Avoid your mobile number or apartment number.
Click Save. Devices will disconnect and need to rejoin. Change both bands for consistency.
The MyJio app offers a faster alternative. Open MyJio, go to JioFiber settings, and tap Wi-Fi Password. Update and save directly from the app.

Using Your Own Router with JioFiber
JioFiber allows you to add your own router behind the Jio Home Gateway. The gateway handles fiber authentication and outputs Ethernet on its LAN ports.
Steps to connect your own router:
- Connect your router’s WAN port to one of the Jio Home Gateway’s LAN ports using an Ethernet cable.
- Set your router’s WAN connection type to DHCP.
- Change your router’s LAN subnet to something other than 192.168.29.x. Use 192.168.0.x or 192.168.1.x to avoid IP address conflicts with the Jio gateway.
- Disable Wi-Fi on the Jio Home Gateway by logging in at 192.168.29.1 and turning off the wireless radios. This prevents interference between the two devices.
- Restart both devices.
No PPPoE credentials or VLAN tagging required. The Jio gateway handles everything upstream. Popular router choices include the TP-Link Archer AX73 and Asus RT-AX55.
Customers comparing Airtel Xstream and JioFiber will find the own-router setup nearly identical on both networks.
Troubleshooting JioFiber Router Issues
Here are the most common JioFiber router problems and how to fix them.
-
Login page does not load. The most common mistake is typing 192.168.1.1. Jio uses 192.168.29.1. Confirm you are on JioFiber, not mobile data. Type http://192.168.29.1 with the prefix. Try a LAN cable. Reset the router as a last resort.
-
Password rejected. Check the router label. On newer firmware, Jio sets a unique password per device instead of the default Jiocentrum. A factory reset (hold reset button 15 seconds) restores defaults.
-
Connected but no internet. Power cycle the gateway by unplugging it for 30 seconds. Check that the fiber cable is firmly connected. If the internet does not return, report through the MyJio app or call 198.
-
Slow Wi-Fi speeds. Test wired first. If wired speed is fine but Wi-Fi is slow, the built-in router is the bottleneck. Use the 5 GHz band for nearby devices. Consider a mesh system for larger homes.
-
JioTV not working. Check the HDMI cable between the gateway and TV. Restart the gateway if JioTV freezes. JioTV requires an active plan with the entertainment add-on.
-
Red light on gateway. A solid red light indicates a fiber line issue. Check the fiber cable from the wall terminal to the gateway. Do not bend fiber cables. Report through the MyJio app or call 198.
Jio Router FAQ
What is the default IP address for Jio Fiber router?
JioFiber routers use 192.168.29.1 as the default gateway IP address. This is different from the common 192.168.1.1. Type 192.168.29.1 in your browser while connected to your Jio network to access the admin panel.
What is the default username and password for Jio router?
The default username is admin and the default password is Jiocentrum on most Jio Home Gateway units. Some newer models use a unique password printed on the router label. The MyJio app also provides access to basic network settings.
How do I change my JioFiber Wi-Fi password?
Log in at 192.168.29.1 with admin and Jiocentrum (or your current password). Go to Wi-Fi settings, change the password field, and click Save. You can also change the password through the MyJio app under JioFiber settings.
Why does Jio use 192.168.29.1 instead of 192.168.1.1?
Jio uses the 192.168.29.x subnet as a deliberate choice to avoid conflicts with other routers and devices that default to 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1. This reduces networking issues when customers add their own equipment.
Can I use my own router with JioFiber?
Yes. Connect your own router's WAN port to a LAN port on the Jio Home Gateway. Set your router's WAN to DHCP. Change your router's LAN subnet to avoid conflicting with the Jio device's 192.168.29.x range. No PPPoE credentials are needed.
