FPT Telecom is a fibre broadband division of FPT Corporation, one of Vietnam’s largest technology companies. The provider has a strong presence in urban areas including Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, and Da Nang. FPT Telecom is known for bundling the FPT Play Box streaming device with broadband plans and offers the FPT Hi app for account management. The service deploys Huawei, ZTE, and TP-Link hardware to subscribers. Most routers use 192.168.1.1 as the default gateway IP address, and connections require PPPoE authentication.

How to Login to Your FPT Telecom Router

To access the FPT Telecom router admin panel, connect to your network through Wi-Fi or a LAN cable. Open a browser and type the IP address 192.168.1.1 in the address bar. The login page will appear after a few seconds.

Enter admin as the username and admin as the password. Technicians sometimes set a custom password during installation. Check the sticker on the bottom of the device if the default does not work.

The FPT Hi app provides account management, speed testing, and bill payment. Full router configuration requires the web admin panel at 192.168.1.1.

If the login page does not load, verify you are connected to the FPT network and not mobile data. Type http://192.168.1.1 with the prefix. A LAN cable connection is more reliable for admin access.

FPT Telecom Router Models and Default Settings

The service has deployed several ONT and router models. The unit depends on your plan tier, city, and installation date.

The Huawei HG8145V5 and ZTE F609 are the two most common ONTs. Both function as combined ONT and router devices with dual-band Wi-Fi. TP-Link routers appear in some plans as a separate Wi-Fi device behind the ONT. The same models are shared with VNPT across Vietnam.

Changing Your FPT Telecom Wi-Fi Password

Subscribers should change the default Wi-Fi password after installation. The default credentials are common across Vietnamese ISPs. Here is the process for the Huawei HG8145V5.

Log in at 192.168.1.1 with your admin credentials. Click on WLAN in the top menu. The 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz networks will appear under SSID Configuration.

Select the SSID to modify. Change the SSID Name from the default (often FPT followed by characters) to a name you prefer. In the WPA PreSharedKey field, type your new password. Use at least 12 characters with a combination of letters, numbers, and symbols.

Click Apply. All connected devices will disconnect and need to rejoin. Repeat for both frequency bands.

For the ZTE F609, go to Network then WLAN then Security and update the WPA Passphrase.

Using Your Own Router with FPT Telecom

The service supports third-party routers. Since the provider uses PPPoE, you need your authentication credentials when configuring your own equipment.

Steps to connect your own router:

1. Obtain your PPPoE username and password from your installation paperwork or by calling 19006600.
2. Log in to the ONT at 192.168.1.1 and disable the built-in Wi-Fi to reduce interference.
3. Connect your router’s WAN port to the ONT’s LAN port 1 using an Ethernet cable.
4. Set your router’s WAN connection type to PPPoE and enter your credentials.
5. If your router defaults to the 192.168.1.x subnet, change its LAN IP address to a different range (such as 192.168.0.x) to avoid conflicts.

Alternatively, leave the ONT handling PPPoE and set your router’s WAN to DHCP behind it. This creates a double NAT but avoids needing credentials on your personal router.

Popular routers among Vietnamese subscribers include the TP-Link Archer AX73 and Xiaomi AX3200. Mesh systems help in the narrow multi-story houses common in Vietnamese cities.

Troubleshooting FPT Telecom Router Issues

Here are the most common router problems and how to fix them.

1. Login page does not load. Confirm you are on the FPT network, not mobile data. Type http://192.168.1.1 with the prefix. Use a LAN cable instead of Wi-Fi. Reset the router if the page does not appear.

2. Password rejected. Technicians frequently set custom admin passwords. Check the router label. A factory reset (hold the reset button for 10 to 15 seconds) restores defaults. Re-enter your PPPoE credentials afterward to restore internet access.

3. Connected but no internet. Verify PPPoE credentials in the WAN settings are correct. Power cycle the ONT for 30 seconds. If PPPoE authentication fails, contact 19006600 to confirm your account is active.

4. Slow Wi-Fi speeds. Test with a wired connection first. The service delivers full speed over Ethernet. If Wi-Fi is the bottleneck, use the 5 GHz band for nearby devices. Consider a mesh system for multi-story homes.

5. Red LOS light on the ONT. A red LOS light means fibre signal loss. Inspect the fibre cable from the wall outlet to the device for bends or damage. Do not bend fibre cables. Contact 19006600 if the cable appears intact.
