Digi merged with Celcom in 2022 to form CelcomDigi, but many users still have Digi-branded equipment. Digi fibre routers use 192.168.0.1, while Digi 4G/5G hotspot devices from Huawei typically use 192.168.8.1. This guide covers login and setup for all Digi router models.

Digi Is Now CelcomDigi

Digi, now part of CelcomDigi Berhad, completed its merger with Celcom in 2022. All broadband services now operate under the CelcomDigi brand. If you’re signing up for a new plan, head to the CelcomDigi website.

For the full CelcomDigi router login guide, setup instructions, and 4G/5G CPE troubleshooting, see our CelcomDigi page, which covers both legacy Digi and Celcom equipment.

If you still have Digi-branded equipment from before the merger, this page covers your specific hardware.

Logging Into Your Digi Router

Digi routers use the IP address 192.168.0.1 for fibre models, or 192.168.8.1 for 4G/5G CPE devices. Here’s the breakdown by device type.

Digi fibre router (ZTE or D-Link): Connect to your Digi Wi-Fi network or plug a cable into a LAN port. Open a browser and type 192.168.0.1. Enter admin / admin to log in.

Digi 4G mobile hotspot (Huawei E5577, E5785): Connect to the hotspot Wi-Fi. Go to 192.168.8.1 in your browser. The username is admin and the password is printed on the device label (or admin if it hasn’t been changed).

Digi 4G CPE (Huawei B315, B535): Same as above: connect via Wi-Fi or a cable plugged into the WAN/LAN port, go to the IP address shown on your device label, and log in. These desktop CPE units have ethernet ports, so a wired connection is more reliable for admin access.

The Huawei E5577 was the standard Digi portable hotspot for years. Battery-powered, pocket-sized, decent for one or two devices. The B535 is the home CPE option: larger, plugs into a wall socket, and supports more simultaneous connections.

Changing Wi-Fi Password on Digi Devices

Digi device password changes follow the same steps as other CelcomDigi equipment.

On Huawei mobile hotspots (E5577/E5785):

Log in at 192.168.8.1. Tap Settings > Wi-Fi Settings > Wi-Fi Basic Settings. Change the Wi-Fi Key field to your new password. Hit Apply.

You can also manage these through the Huawei HiLink app on your phone. Open the app, tap the connected device, go to My Wi-Fi, and change the password there. Faster than using the browser.

On ZTE/D-Link fibre routers:

Same process as any router: log in at 192.168.0.1, go to Wireless Settings, change the security key. See our change Wi-Fi password guide for detailed steps.

Troubleshooting Digi Connection Issues

Here are the most common Digi router problems and how to fix them.

  1. Login page does not load. Make sure you are connected to the Digi hotspot Wi-Fi, not your home Wi-Fi or mobile data. On phones, disable mobile data temporarily so the browser routes through the hotspot connection. Type http://192.168.8.1 with the full prefix.

  2. Hotspot battery drains fast. The E5577 battery degrades after 2-3 years. If your hotspot dies within an hour, the battery needs replacement. Third-party batteries are available on Shopee for RM20-40. Model number is HB824666RBC for the E5577.

  3. Slow 4G speeds. Position the CPE near a window. For portable hotspots, try different spots in your room. Check the signal indicator. Two bars or fewer means you are too far from the tower. Consider an external antenna for CPE models with SMA ports. Digi’s 4G network primarily operates on Band 3 (1800 MHz) and Band 7 (2600 MHz), with Band 1 (2100 MHz) for additional capacity. If your CPE supports band locking, try forcing Band 3 for the best balance of range and speed.

  4. No internet after SIM swap or top-up. Restart the device after inserting a new SIM or reloading prepaid credit. Some Digi prepaid SIMs require an APN of “diginet”, so check Settings > Network > APN in the admin panel at 192.168.8.1 and confirm the APN is correct.

  5. Account or billing issues. Digi customer support is now handled by CelcomDigi. Call 1111 or visit a CelcomDigi store. Your old Digi account number still works for identification.

Before subscribing to any Digi or CelcomDigi plan, check coverage at digi.com.my/coverage to verify 4G or 5G availability at your address. Coverage varies significantly between urban and rural areas in Malaysia.
