CMC Telecom is the telecommunications arm of CMC Corporation, a Vietnamese technology company. The provider offers fibre broadband to both enterprise and residential customers across major Vietnamese cities. While smaller than the top three ISPs, the provider has built a reputation for reliable business-grade internet. The service deploys Huawei and ZTE ONT hardware to subscribers. Most routers use 192.168.1.1 as the default gateway IP address, and connections typically require PPPoE authentication.

How to Login to Your CMC Telecom Router

To access the CMC Telecom router admin panel, connect to your network through Wi-Fi or a LAN cable. Open a browser and type the IP address 192.168.1.1 in the address bar. The login page will appear after a few seconds.

Enter admin as the username and admin as the password. Technicians sometimes set a custom password during installation. Check the sticker on the bottom of the device if the default does not work.

The provider offers technical support through its customer service hotline. Full router configuration including wireless settings, port forwarding, and PPPoE management requires the web admin panel at 192.168.1.1.

If the login page does not load, confirm you are connected to the CMC network and not mobile data. Type http://192.168.1.1 with the prefix. A LAN cable connection provides more reliable access than Wi-Fi for admin tasks.

The Huawei HG8145V5 is the most common unit across residential subscribers. It functions as a combined ONT and router with dual-band Wi-Fi. The ZTE F670L with WiFi 6 has appeared on newer installations. Business plans may receive the Huawei EG8145V5 with a unique label password. These same models are used by FPT Telecom and other Vietnamese providers.

Changing Your CMC Telecom Wi-Fi Password

Subscribers should change the default Wi-Fi password after installation to secure their network. The default credentials are shared across many Vietnamese ISPs. Here is the process for the Huawei HG8145V5.

Log in at 192.168.1.1 with your admin credentials. Click on WLAN in the top menu. The 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz networks will appear under SSID Configuration.

Select the SSID to modify. Change the SSID Name to a name you prefer. In the WPA PreSharedKey field, type your new password. Use at least 12 characters.

Click Apply. All connected devices will disconnect and need to rejoin. Repeat for both frequency bands.

For the ZTE F609 or F670L, go to Network then WLAN then Security and update the WPA Passphrase field.

Using Your Own Router with CMC Telecom

The service supports third-party routers. Since the provider uses PPPoE on most plans, you need your authentication credentials to configure your own equipment.

Steps to connect your own router:

1. Obtain your PPPoE username and password from your installation paperwork or by contacting support.
2. Log in to the ONT at 192.168.1.1 and disable the built-in Wi-Fi to reduce interference.
3. Connect your router’s WAN port to the ONT’s LAN port 1 using an Ethernet cable.
4. Set your router’s WAN connection type to PPPoE and enter your credentials.
5. If your router defaults to the 192.168.1.x subnet, change its LAN IP address to a different range (such as 192.168.0.x) to avoid conflicts.

Alternatively, keep PPPoE running on the ONT and set your router’s WAN to DHCP. This avoids needing credentials on your personal router but introduces double NAT.

Popular routers among Vietnamese broadband users include the TP-Link Archer AX73 and Xiaomi AX3200. Multi-story tube houses benefit from mesh systems for full coverage.

Troubleshooting CMC Telecom Router Issues

Here are the most common router problems and how to fix them.

1. Login page does not load. Verify you are on the CMC network, not mobile data. Type http://192.168.1.1 with the prefix. Use a LAN cable instead of Wi-Fi. Reset the router if the page does not appear after several attempts.

2. Password rejected. Technicians may set custom admin passwords. Check the router label. A factory reset (hold the reset button for 10 to 15 seconds) restores defaults. Re-enter PPPoE credentials afterward to restore internet access.

3. Connected but no internet. Verify PPPoE credentials in the WAN settings. Power cycle the ONT for 30 seconds. If PPPoE authentication fails repeatedly, contact support to confirm your account status.

4. Slow Wi-Fi speeds. Test with a wired connection first. The service delivers full speed over Ethernet. If Wi-Fi is the bottleneck, switch to the 5 GHz band for nearby devices. Adding a third-party router or mesh system improves coverage in larger homes.

5. Red LOS light on the ONT. A red LOS light means fibre signal loss. Check the fibre cable from the wall outlet to the device for bends. Do not bend fibre cables sharply. Contact support if the cable appears intact.
