Astro Broadband Router Login
192.168.0.1
Astro Broadband (Astro Fibre) delivers fibre internet bundled with Malaysia's largest satellite TV platform. Astro routers typically use 192.168.0.1 as the default gateway. This guide covers login steps, default passwords, and configuration for TP-Link and Huawei routers supplied with Astro Fibre plans.
Astro Broadband is a fibre internet service operated by Astro Malaysia Holdings Berhad, the country’s dominant satellite television provider. The company entered the broadband market by reselling TM Unifi wholesale fibre lines and bundling them with Astro TV content packages. Plans range from 100Mbps at RM79 per month to 2Gbps at RM269 per month, with all tiers including the Astro Fibre WiFi App for network management.
How to Login to Your Astro Broadband Router
Astro Fibre routers use 192.168.0.1 as the default gateway IP address on TP-Link models. Connect to the Wi-Fi network printed on the router label, or plug a LAN cable into one of the router’s LAN ports. Open any browser and type that IP address in the address bar.
Enter admin for both the username and password. On Huawei models, the password may differ. Check the sticker on the bottom of the device for the correct credentials.
If the page does not load, verify you are on the provider’s network and not your phone’s mobile data. Try typing the full prefix: http://192.168.0.1. Confirm the router is powered on and the WAN light is solid green.
Astro Broadband Router Models
The provider distributes different routers based on your plan tier and installation date.
| Router Model | Default IP | Username | Password | Wi-Fi Standard |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| TP-Link Archer AX1500 | 192.168.0.1 | admin | admin | Wi-Fi 6 (AX1500) |
| TP-Link Archer AX3000 | 192.168.0.1 | admin | admin | Wi-Fi 6 (AX3000) |
| Huawei WiFi AX3 | 192.168.3.1 | admin | See label | Wi-Fi 6 (AX3000) |
| TP-Link Archer BE550 | 192.168.0.1 | admin | admin | Wi-Fi 7 (BE5500) |
Subscribers on the 100Mbps and 500Mbps plans receive Wi-Fi 6 routers. The 1Gbps and 2Gbps plans include a Wi-Fi 7 capable router for higher throughput. All supplied routers have at least 4 LAN ports and 1 WAN port on the back panel.
Changing Your Astro Broadband Wi-Fi Password
Subscribers can change Wi-Fi credentials through the router admin panel or the Astro Fibre WiFi App.
Through the browser: Log in at 192.168.0.1. On TP-Link routers, click Wireless in the top or left menu. Select the band you want to modify (2.4GHz or 5GHz). Change the Network Name (SSID) and enter a new password in the Password field. Click Save. Repeat for the other band.
Through the app: Open the Astro Fibre WiFi App and tap Wi-Fi Settings. Edit the network name and password directly. Tap Save. The app applies changes to both bands simultaneously.
Use WPA2 or WPA3 encryption and set a password of at least 12 characters. All connected devices will disconnect after the change and will need to reconnect with the new credentials. For detailed steps, see the Wi-Fi password change guide.
Using Your Own Router with Astro Broadband
The service runs on TM Unifi wholesale infrastructure, which means the fibre line terminates at a TM ONT (optical network terminal) in your home. You can connect your own router to this ONT directly.
- Disconnect the supplied router from the ONT.
- Connect your own router’s WAN port to LAN port 1 on the ONT using an ethernet cable.
- Set your router’s WAN connection type to DHCP (Dynamic IP or Automatic).
- Power cycle the ONT by unplugging it for 30 seconds, then plugging it back in.
- Power on your router and wait 2 to 3 minutes for the connection to establish.
DHCP works for most installations without VLAN tagging or PPPoE credentials. If DHCP does not work, try setting VLAN ID to 500 on your router’s WAN configuration, as some wholesale lines require it. For the 2Gbps plan, you will need a router with a 2.5GbE WAN port.
Troubleshooting Astro Broadband Issues
-
Login page does not load. Confirm you are connected to the router’s network. If you replaced the supplied router with your own, the admin IP address depends on your router brand. It may be 192.168.1.1 or another address. Check your router’s documentation. If using the supplied TP-Link, try http://192.168.0.1 with the full prefix.
-
Default password rejected. The installation technician may have changed the password during setup. Look for a card or sticker with updated credentials left by the technician. If none exists, reset the router by pressing and holding the reset pinhole button for 10 to 15 seconds.
-
Connected but no internet. Power cycle the ONT first, then the router. Wait 3 minutes between each restart. Check the ONT lights: the PON light should be solid green. If the LOS light is red, the fibre line has a problem that requires a technician visit. Contact support at 03-9543 3838.
-
Slow Wi-Fi but fast on cable. Test with a wired LAN connection first. If wired speeds match your plan, the issue is Wi-Fi coverage or interference. Use the 5GHz band for devices within 2 rooms of the router. Move the router to a central, elevated location. For homes larger than 1,500 sq ft, consider a mesh Wi-Fi system.
-
Astro Fibre WiFi App not detecting router. Make sure your phone is connected to the router’s Wi-Fi network, not mobile data. Force close and reopen the app. If the issue persists, update the app to the latest version from your app store. The app requires Bluetooth to be enabled during initial setup.
Astro Broadband Router FAQ
What is the default IP address for Astro Fibre router?
Astro Fibre routers use 192.168.0.1 as the default gateway on TP-Link models. Open a browser and type this address while connected to your Astro Wi-Fi or via a LAN cable to access the admin panel.
What is the default password for Astro router?
The default username and password are both admin on most Astro-supplied TP-Link routers. On Huawei models, the password may be printed on the device label. Check the sticker on the bottom of the unit if admin does not work.
Does Astro Fibre use its own network?
No. Astro Fibre operates as a reseller on the TM Unifi wholesale network. The fibre line and ONT are the same TM infrastructure. Astro adds its own router, billing, and bundled content packages on top of the wholesale connection.
Can I use my own router with Astro Fibre?
Yes. Connect your router WAN port to the ONT LAN port. Set the WAN type to DHCP or Automatic. Since Astro Fibre runs on TM wholesale infrastructure, the setup process is similar to a standard TM Unifi connection without PPPoE.
What speeds does Astro Fibre offer?
Astro Fibre offers 4 plans: 100Mbps at RM79 per month, 500Mbps at RM90 per month, 1Gbps at RM179 per month, and 2Gbps at RM269 per month. All plans include the Astro Fibre WiFi App for network management.
How do I manage my Astro Fibre network remotely?
Download the Astro Fibre WiFi App from the App Store or Google Play. The app lets you check connected devices, run speed tests, pause internet access for specific devices, and change your Wi-Fi password without logging into the router admin panel.
