How to Login to Your Airtel Router

Bharti Airtel, India’s largest private telecommunications company, provides broadband through its Airtel Xstream Fiber service. To access the Airtel router admin panel, connect to your Airtel network via Wi-Fi or a LAN cable plugged into one of the router’s LAN ports. Open a browser and type the IP address 192.168.1.1 in the address bar.

The login page will load. Enter admin as both username and password. On some newer Nokia ONT models, the password is unique and printed on the device label, so check the sticker if admin/admin does not work.

Airtel also offers the Airtel Thanks app for network management. The app handles password changes and device monitoring. For advanced settings like port forwarding and DHCP configuration, the web panel at 192.168.1.1 is required.

If the login page does not load, verify you are on the Airtel network and not mobile data. Type http://192.168.1.1 with the full prefix to avoid browser search redirects.

The Nokia G-240W-A is the most widely deployed Airtel ONT across India, combining fiber terminal and Wi-Fi router in a single unit. Bharti Airtel’s parent company, Bharti Enterprises, has been upgrading infrastructure with Nokia WiFi 6 ONTs in metro cities since 2024.

Changing Your Airtel Wi-Fi Password

Airtel Xstream Fiber subscribers should update the default Wi-Fi password after installation. The default password is often simple and sometimes shared with neighbors during setup. Here is the process for the Nokia G-240W-A.

Log in at 192.168.1.1 with your admin credentials. Click on Network in the top menu, then select WLAN or Wireless. You will see your 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz SSIDs listed.

Click the SSID to change. Update the SSID Name to your preferred name. In the WPA PreSharedKey field, enter your new password. Pick at least 12 characters. Avoid your mobile number or flat number.

Click Apply. All connected devices will drop off. Change both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz networks.

The Airtel Thanks app provides a simpler alternative. Open the app, go to My Connections, select Xstream Fiber, and tap Wi-Fi Settings.

Using Your Own Router with Airtel Xstream Fiber

Airtel Xstream Fiber allows you to use your own router behind the supplied ONT. The Airtel ONT handles fiber authentication and provides Ethernet output.

Steps to connect your own router:

1. Log in to the Airtel ONT at 192.168.1.1.
2. Disable the Wi-Fi on the Airtel ONT to avoid interference (optional but recommended).
3. Connect your own router’s WAN port to one of the Airtel ONT’s LAN ports using an Ethernet cable.
4. Set your router’s WAN connection type to DHCP.
5. Change your router’s LAN subnet to something different from 192.168.1.x (for example, 192.168.0.x or 192.168.2.x) to avoid IP address conflicts.
6. Restart both devices.

No PPPoE credentials or VLAN tagging needed. Popular routers among Airtel users include the TP-Link Archer AX73 and Asus RT-AX55. The setup is similar to Jio Fiber in terms of own-router compatibility.

Troubleshooting Airtel Router Issues

Here are the most common Airtel router problems and how to fix them.

1. Login page does not load. Confirm you are on the Airtel network, not mobile data. Type http://192.168.1.1 in the address bar. Try a LAN cable to the ONT. Reset the router if nothing works.

2. Password rejected. Airtel technicians frequently change the password during installation. Check the router label. Try airtel or the serial number. A factory reset restores defaults.

3. Connected but no internet. Power cycle the ONT by unplugging it for 30 seconds, then restart the router. Check for firmware updates under Maintenance in the admin panel. If the issue persists, report through the Airtel Thanks app or call 121.

4. Slow Wi-Fi speeds. Test with a wired LAN connection first. If wired speed matches your plan, Wi-Fi is the issue. The Nokia G-240W-A has limited range in 2BHK and 3BHK flats. Place the router centrally and use the 5 GHz band for nearby devices. For larger homes, add a mesh system.

5. Red LOS light. This indicates fiber signal loss. Check the fiber cable from the wall socket to the ONT for damage. Do not bend fiber cables sharply. Report through the Airtel Thanks app if the cable is intact.
