Default Router IP Addresses

Every router has a default gateway IP address used to access its admin panel. Find your router's IP address below and follow the login instructions.

Routers use private IP address ranges defined by RFC 1918. The most common is the 192.168.x.x range (Class C), used by virtually every home router sold at retail. The 10.x.x.x range (Class A) appears mainly on ISP-supplied gateways and enterprise networks. The 172.16.x.x-172.31.x.x range (Class B) is less common in consumer equipment but shows up in some corporate setups. If you're unsure which range your network uses, our article on what an IP address is covers the basics, and the public vs private IP guide explains why your router uses a private address internally.

Three gateway addresses dominate home networking. 192.168.1.1 is the most widely used default, set by ASUS, Netgear, Linksys, and most third-party routers. 192.168.0.1 comes second, favored by D-Link, TP-Link, and ISP-supplied routers from Xfinity and BT. 10.0.0.1 is the standard for ISP gateways from AT&T, Xfinity, and some fiber installations. If your router was supplied by your internet provider, it likely uses either 192.168.0.1 or 10.0.0.1 rather than the more common 192.168.1.1.

Not sure which IP address your router uses? Your computer already knows -- it's stored as your default gateway. On Windows, run ipconfig in Command Prompt. On macOS, check System Preferences > Network. On Linux, run ip route. Or skip the terminal and use our find your router IP address guide, which walks through every method with screenshots.
